Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre

This was a fairly traditional production, just a large one. With a cast of 49, hundreds of costumes, dozens of fly lines, 20 musicians, a 700 seat theatre, but with only ten days of rehearsal and one day of tech, the show was a challenge. But a strong cast and a very talented design team helped make this production one of the theatre’s most successful and well-attended shows in years.

One of my goals for the show was to keep the production and staging as swift as Willson’s script and plotting. This led to very rapid scene changes (aided by a more theatrical than realistic set) and an overall examination of River City as a whole portrait rather than separate stories.
